Tonight Venus and Jupiter will appear to be separated by 0.33° in the night sky. Actually, Jupiter is clear over on the other side of the Sun and Venus is catching up with it in its much lower and faster orbit.
It's been terribly hot. The idea of getting a mini-split AC unit for the bedroom is more and more attractive all the time. We are opening the windows at night and cooling the house down, but it has been in the upper 90's all week and the house just heats up anyway.
I really haven't been sleeping very well because of the heat.
Blakeman Propane came to our house and delivered propane. This was the first fill up since November. We used 105 gallons in 7 months. Not bad at all! They charged us the summer rate of $1.45 per gallon.
Our little garden is doing terrific. We have tomatoes set, we have sweet peppers set, we have two kinds of basil growing, some mint, two bushes of lemon balm, two bushes of thyme, some yellow pepper plants, some tomatillo plants, and some brussels sprouts plants. My strawberry plants have about 18 strawberries coming in.
Just two more days to go at work this week - we have Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4 off. We return to 12-hour days on Sunday morning.
just some of my thoughts, opinions, and experiences.... an ongoing editorial. this log is basically a milk crate for my mind.

Summer !!
So much has happened since I last wrote and I can't believe it's been a month!
Becky and Bill came out and visited with us for 9 days. We took them over Beartooth Pass and up the Beartooth Highway to Yellowstone National Park. We took two days to visit the park. We took them to Thermopolis and they enjoyed the hot spring. We took them to Kirby and they toured the distillery. We took them to the rodeo and the Irma Hotel. They spent a day exploring the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.
They are safely back home now.
I worked two days during the shut down while they were here. Our shut down is over and we had made a validation batch of EME. Now we are shutting down again for inventory and air filter maintenance.
I found one of our white chickens dead in Nest Box 1. It looks like she was picked on and pecked to death. I wrapped her in newspaper and buried her. Another one of the white chickens has a very badly pecked up vent. For now we are letting the two remaining white birds recover in the dog kennel. We pulled shade cloth over it and hung a drinker in there. I put wood shavings into the plastic dog house and they seem quite happy with it.
Today we drove to Powell to eat breakfast, do our laundry, and bring a load of water home.
Tomorrow I am working on day shift again. We will work 10-hour days for the rest of the week to get our 40 hours.
