For breakfast I had a fried egg and a cheese stick. Man, I really need to get some groceries now ! Atleast I will only buy things in my diet when I go again.
Today I helped Ana with her "All About Me" poster. I found and made a Florida vanity license plate for her to print out and cut out and paste up on her poster with a tool on the Internet. Her vanity plate read "FUN ANA V".
Ate an apple for my snack around 10 AM.
Only had about 6 orders today. It was not bad. I called and spoke to Betsy this morning. She will be back on Friday. She is looking forward to returning !
At lunch I went to the post office and mailed a couple of 2005 Disney calendars to Tyler and Jordan. Then on the way back I stopped at Seven-11 and got a Cobb salad, turkey roll-up, and diet Dr Pepper.
In the afternoon Ana and I went for our walk. It was beautiful outside. We walked over to the Textile Services Building to get some samples returned that we had tested. I am glad we make these walks because it is atleast some exercise.
I made a 6PM appointment at H&R Block to get my taxes done. When I came home I changed clothes and went to the office. They were very busy. I checked in and waited for an hour ! I told the lady, "How can I trust you to do my taxes if you cannot be trusted to make and keep an appointment with me?"
As it turns out, the taxes were a big disappointment. I have to pay $387 this year because I did not re-invest my 401k money when I left Rinker. But, I have until 14 April to pay it. Charges to filing the taxes was $94, but the cashier accidently rang up $91... it does not make it even, but it helps.

Yesterday I did my laundry first thing. Then I wrote checks out to USAA, Shell Oil Company, and Bank Of America (I am about to pay one of the BOA accounts off !!). I have all of my W-2 forms now, so I am going to make an appointment at H&R Block to have my taxes done after work this week.
Lots of traffic yesterday. Went out for some lunch... 192 was so crowded and backed up that I got onto Osceola Parkway to go back to the east. Did that despite the $1.50 it cost. I would rather part with that cash than sit in traffic for an hour.
Went to Waldenbooks and found a history about cotton. It is called Big Cotton: How a Humble Fiber Built Fortunes, Wrecked Civilizations and Put America on the Map. I am going to simply refer to it as "Big Cotton". There was another book that I was kinda interested in... it was about PHP and MySQL.... but the book required you to install and configure Apache server... still not sure I want to do that... and the book was $30.
Last night I was going to go out... but I got a better offer. Went over to see Ron instead. We watched TV and I rubbed his feet and legs. Stayed over there until about 11. I left early so that he could sleep since he had to get up for work at 6 this morning.
This morning I have gotten a lot done. I have pressed two shirts, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen floors with Pine-Sol, vacuumed the carpet, performed hard disk housekeeping, got a package ready to mail to Jordan and Tyler, and when I shower I am going to scrub the tub. Very productive !

On Wednesday a career consultant called me to ask some questions about Boyd Williams, a guy who worked with The Shop at Rinker. Boyd is working at the Leesburg Block Plant now. I only had good things to say about Boyd and I passed on Tim Speight, at Cocoa, as another reference.
Boyd called me yesterday and we talked for a little while. He is looking for a new job. I guess he really got Tim Whittmore, his manager pissed off. He found out that guys working on Sunday were paid double-time. When he asked Tim about it, Tim denied it. So, Boyd writes an e-mail to West Palm Beach HR... got the nest all stirred up !! Poor Boyd.
Boyd says that Wayne Bruner was kicked out of the Orlando office, so now he has a small office in Davenport where Olivia Faulkner has her office. Evidently, Steve Prince, the superintendent at Winter Park has been tapped to fill the Eastern Region Manager job since Jim retired. Steve really moved up fast ! Boyd believes that Roy, another foreman trainee is going to be selected to run the Winter Park plant. Roy was hired a couple of months after me. (Personally I think Tad in Ocala would be a better choice, but maybe they did not pick him because he is, after all, in Ocala.) You know, I am so glad to be out of that place. I have slept soundly these past few months.
Yesterday SAP stopped sending faxed purchase orders to our biggest vendor, Edward Don & Co... maybe I should qualify that... because maybe, afterall, it is sending them, but Don is not receiving any. I had to print and manually fax 29 orders, and who knows how many more are sitting in limbo. I have SAP Support Services and Project Tomorrowland working on this one, but I know that it is snowballing as I write this.
Andrea was here in the building yesterday. No word on whether I have been picked for the IT Team or not. She learned at that point that I was the person who left the Chic-Fil-A Spy Cows Calendar in her cubicle. She had been asking everyone in the Team Disney Building. Doing little favors and leaving little gifts like that DO matter. LOL
Marie Browne came to my office yesterday. Marie has worked here for awhile, but she was a temp for a long time before they finally hired her permanently. Marie said that the department is having a holiday celebration tonight, but her date got sick, so she wanted to know if I would go the the function with "an old lady". I thought about it for a minute and agreed. So tonight I will be at Epcot for the International Dinner and Illuminations Dessert Reception.
More computer problems this morning. I guess IT decided to upgrade Internet Explorear lastnight. When I started the PC this morning it had issues. I called 4700 and explained that I did not have another computer to work at. They put me on the "priority list", and they had me fixed in about half an hour.
In the mail lastnight I found W-2 forms from Hi-Tec and Rinker. I got the W-2 from Navy Federal a few days ago. I don't see any reason why I cannot go to H&R Block to have a tax return completed now. Infact I had better get it done, because I might need that money very soon !
Added the totals from Rinker and Hi-Tec, and combined I still made as much money as I would have made if I had stayed at Rinker and remained unhappy.

Past couple of days I have seen a few strange things on various Internet websites. I saw directions for making a rotary-dial wireless phone, and I saw this weblog that espouses the candidacy of Senator Barbara Boxer for President in 2008. I will grant you, Boxer did stand up for what she believes in, almost alone on the Senate floor, but just because she was loud I am not necessarily sure she was justified or accurate. On Wired.com, today, I read an article about an artist who uses old Apple Mac Classics to make an display art. Evidently the programming language is something that was terribly easy to use called HyperCard. Apple Computer has decided to stop developing and supporing HC. Got me thinking about the alternatives that exist like MetaCard, and RealBASIC. RealBasic would probably be my choice, and it is even more capable than the VisualBASIC 4.0 that I have on my desktop at home. It even ports your programs to Mac, Win, Linux/Unix.
Yesterday Ana invited to me to sit in on a meeting with a vendor. This vendor was selling a cleaning product for fabrics. "Oh yes, and it kills 42 different kinds of bacteria: hiv, hepatitus, herpes . . . " I threw down the bullshit flag, "Wait a minute, you haven't mentioned a single bacteria. All of those are viral!" I guess Ana almost peed her pants she wanted to laugh so badly !! "Well, well, it says right here on the bottle what it kills."
Very dark and cloudy outside this afternoon. Peggy said it is sprinkling outside right now. If it actually rains I doubt that Ana and I will take our walk. Besides they have to go to a Town Haul Meeting this afternoon anyway. Oh well. This day will be over soon.
Read about the poor boy in Sweden named "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116" pronounced "Albin". They say he is lucky he even got a name at all !

Today went by pretty quickly. Just routine stuff at work. Still no word from the Technology Team about whether I am going to get the job or not. Everyone asks me about it and I have nothing to tell them. Most people think that I either have it wrapped up or I am a strong candidate for it.
Ana and I took our afternoon brisk walk around the building. 3 laps equals about 5600 steps... about 18 inches per step... I dunno... probably a mile and a half. Anyway we both felt more awake and warmer after the walk. Just wish I didn't take 15 minutes per lap.
My February issue of Wired magazine is here. Started to dig right into it. That is my favorite magazine.
Apple is selling a little tiny computer that is 6.5"x6.5"x2" with no screen, no keyboard... 80GB hard disk. A multimedia computer. The Mini. $500. That sounds like a bargain until you realize I got my e-machine for $350 (keyboard, mouse, and speakers included). The future is going to be downloading your movies... people will do it as long as it takes less time than driving to Blockbuster Video... people will not download the evening news.

Stayed in all weekend. Laundry is done. No groceries bought. Wrote the check for February rent.
My new friend had to housesit over in Claremont all weekend. Funny... when I have to work the next day I am out with him until late, but when I have all the time in the world he is nowhere around. Hmmmm....
Dad called today. Nothing much to say except that he has been very busy plowing driveways with his truck. Said that he was only person at Dick's funeral who was not a Cook.
Mom called Saturday. Didn't say much except that Marri and Kevin's dog had an ear operation and is doing okay. She said the Linda and Roger got a two-bedroom house 20 miles from Ocala. That is cool, I am sure they will be pleased to have a visit from me.
Today in the news: Johnnie Carson dead at 79... Rose Mary Woods - Nixon's secretary died too. Blizzard in the northeast has everything bogged down in a couple of feet of snow ! Looks like Orlando International is going to upgrade so that it can take the Airbus 380 behemoth airplane.
It is a full moon tonite and the mercury is plummetting right now...39F right now, and on the way down to 29F tonight. Brrrrr ! Glad the antifreeze is strong in my truck... I know it is strong because I mixed it and added it myself last year.
Just about to finish Blink tonight. I still have the book Ana loaned me about rude and insulting English words to read yet. No shortage of reading materials here ! Had to get Blink done though because Dawn Luttrell wanted to discuss some of the ideas Gladwell brings up.

Well another week at work has started. This will be another short four-day week.
Lots of orders to place and lots of orders to change. 4700 called first thing too. Got the software drivers for the Smart Label Printer installed and began making the labels for Betsy's address book. I have 48 pages of contacts, but I got 20 pages done yesterday !
Lastnight I met a nice guy in Internet chat. I agreed to go all the way back to Lake Buena Vista to meet him at Jungle Jim's. He is 34 years old and originally from Boston. We talked and drank until after 1 AM. He is nice.
This morning I was in a fog from lack of sleep. I just kept pushing through and got most of my work done. Got 18 more pages of labels printed out.
At 3:50 Ana and I went out side and briskly walked around the building twice. When I finally got back to my desk it was 4:32 ! Lindsay Johnson was supposed to call for my phone interview at 4:30. He called a few minutes late.
The whole interview was very relaxed. Lindsay said that I have a lot of fans... alot of people recommend me for the job and Matt Thursam sent a recommendation over for me. I told him, "well, that is always nice to know!" I guess they want to fill this job quickly, but he said that it could take up to a month to fill it too. We will just cross our fingers and see.
With the interview behind me, I want to start reading Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladstone. I am sure I will enjoy it. Plus, Dawn Luttrell wants to discuss ideas in the book at work too.
Just two more days left in the week !

Yesterday I washed my whites, bought some groceries at Albertson's, and purchased Blink at the Waldenbooks store. I made roasted vegetables for dinner.
My neighbor, Mercedes, is packing everything in her apartment. She is going to move soon.
Lastnight Mom called me to tell me that Clara called her. Uncle Dick died sometime last week. They had him cremated. I guess Dad went to the memorial service.
Today I stayed in and did very little. Washed dark clothes. Watched National Treasure I downloaded from the Internet. That is wild, I watched it before it was even released on video !
Finished reading Howard Hughes: The Untold Story this evening. Seems to me, that the last twenty years of his life he was one of the poorest men in the world. Surrounded by aides who were neglecting him and keeping him drugged up. A virtual prisoner.
I went out this evening. First time out in a couple of weeks. It is kinda cool out tonite and I wore a sweatshirt.
Tomorrow I am going to iron a shirt and watch Bruce Almighty -- another movie I downloaded. That should be a funny one.

Well this has been a very interesting day. Pretty busy too.
This morning I had a question from a customer about performing goods receipt. Matt sent me to Cheryl Erickson for an answer. When I got there, I found Andrea McNair in there with her, and get this, they were discussing the very topic I came to get an answer for !!
I found out from Andrea that I am getting a telephone interview with Lindsay next week. On Wednesday at 4:30 PM. I guess Andrea has been very involved in the selection process... she said she had a stack of resumes an inch thick. Of course she has to remain objective about the decisions.
For lunch I had my home-made coffee-flavored ice cream that I made lastnight and a Life Choices low-carb meal (like a TV dinner). Shirley and Frankie watching All My Children from 1 to 2. Shirley gets mad if I talk while her stories are on ! LOL !! But honestly, the characters are so stupid ! Don't trust Kendall you stooopid girl ! LOL !!
I was walking down the hall and Matt said he wanted to have a word with me, so we went back to my little room. He told me that he wrote a memo to Lindsay and copied Kimberly recommending me for the opening on the Technology and Telecomm Team. We discussed what they were looking for and the entire process. I am glad that I stay one or two steps ahead of him ! During our convo I told him that I thought there was a "perceived" problem between me and Rich, but that we got along professionally. Matt very quickly said, "No, it is the opinion of a lot of people, that Rich is a problem." I just smiled and laughed.
Lastnight I ran the SimpleServer from Analog X and had it pointing to a folder with a local copy of my website in it. I asked my friend Josh to go to "http://24.165.248.157/" and tell me what he saw. He saw my personal website as it exists on my hard drive ! No ads. I am going to host my site from my personal computer now. Updates will be easier (no FTP). I will put a redirection script on tripod to send people here.
This blog will still be hosted on blogspot.com and maintained at blogger.com because it is nice to be able to blog from any place you have Internet access.

I found out from Andrea that I am getting a telephone interview with Lindsay next week. On Wednesday at 4:30 PM. I guess Andrea has been very involved in the selection process... she said she had a stack of resumes an inch thick. Of course she has to remain objective about the decisions.
For lunch I had my home-made coffee-flavored ice cream that I made lastnight and a Life Choices low-carb meal (like a TV dinner). Shirley and Frankie watching All My Children from 1 to 2. Shirley gets mad if I talk while her stories are on ! LOL !! But honestly, the characters are so stupid ! Don't trust Kendall you stooopid girl ! LOL !!
I was walking down the hall and Matt said he wanted to have a word with me, so we went back to my little room. He told me that he wrote a memo to Lindsay and copied Kimberly recommending me for the opening on the Technology and Telecomm Team. We discussed what they were looking for and the entire process. I am glad that I stay one or two steps ahead of him ! During our convo I told him that I thought there was a "perceived" problem between me and Rich, but that we got along professionally. Matt very quickly said, "No, it is the opinion of a lot of people, that Rich is a problem." I just smiled and laughed.
Lastnight I ran the SimpleServer from Analog X and had it pointing to a folder with a local copy of my website in it. I asked my friend Josh to go to "http://24.165.248.157/" and tell me what he saw. He saw my personal website as it exists on my hard drive ! No ads. I am going to host my site from my personal computer now. Updates will be easier (no FTP). I will put a redirection script on tripod to send people here.
This blog will still be hosted on blogspot.com and maintained at blogger.com because it is nice to be able to blog from any place you have Internet access.

Another Day In The Empire. . . .
Can you believe that the Pentagon is debating whether to send in Special Forces Death Squads to train Iraqi's to kidnap and assassinate insurgents ? Sorta like what we did covertly in El Salvador twenty years ago. Things must be worse than George and Rummy have been letting on.
Still downloading movies with BitTorrent. I have Gladiator now, and I am downloading National Treasure. Also downloading a few TV shows like the History Channel's Modern Miracles series (Erie Canal, Sears Tower, Motorcycles, GW Bridge, etc.). The more popular a movie is, the more people who are sharing it, the faster it downloads and the more likely you are to finish the download.
Things have kind of returned to normal in the office now. The frantic pace of placing orders has subsided and I actually have time for all of the special projects and requests from A-P and all of the customers. One project Betsy has me working on is printing all of her contact phone numbers onto labels that she can put into her Day Planner. I am going to use her Smart Label Printer. I asked Davida for the driver disks and she refused to help. Infact, she got very mad that I was doing that work, saying it was a waste of my time and that Betsy should be doing it herself. Who is Davida to say how I should spend my time or what work I should do ? It does not matter, Andrea McNair said I can borrow her driver disks. If worse comes to worse, I have Request For Services in with IT to have the necessary software installed on this workstation. You just have to be persistent to get anything done.
Had leftover chicken steaks and steamed green beans for lunch today. No real idea what I will have for dinner tonight, but I have plenty at home.
It is past time for me to get out of her and stew in rush hour traffic. Atleast I am over the middle of the week now. I believe this weekend is going to be another three-day weekend because of ML King, Jr Day. I need to call Jessica at Hi-Tek and make sure.

My phone interview with Cameron Woods went fine, I think. No terribly hard questions. Just need to wait until the next interview now.
On Friday I went to lunch with Betsy and Peggy. We went to the Olive Garden across the road (the same one Kevin and Marrissia took me to). Our server was very inattentive to us. As a result he got a $2 tip, and his manager got an earful from Betsy and Peggy ! Me, I got sauce on the front of my shirt.
This weekend I downloaded a couple more movies. I have Scarface now - the one with Al Pacino, and I have the Disney animated feature Tarzan, I have the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz. Even if downloading the movie takes 35 hours, it is okay because it downloads while I sleep and while I am at work.
On Saturday I stayed home all day. Just barricaded myself in and did not go out. I needed the rest. Read more of the Howard Hughes biography... he sure had an adventurous life !
On Sunday I got my laundry done, went to the grocery and spent $170 there, put groceries away, ironed two shirts, made a crockery kettle of chili, and marinated some chicken steaks to fry tonight or tomorrow.
Today was the first day without Betsy. It got a little hectic this morning, but it is has been settled down this afternoon. She mailed her contacts to me and I have added them to my address book, but she wants me to print them out on labels for her. I will find a way to make that happen before she gets back.

Betsy has kept me very busy this week. I swear she drives me crazy with all of the stuff she has me doing. Anything that she does not want to deal with the just pawns off on me.
Yesterday I was having a rough day. Almost rear-ended a cellphone-talking SUV driver. Neck and left shoulder still hurt. When I asked Peggy to give me some Advil, she sat me in her desk chair and told me to relax. She said, "You're gonna hate me for doing this" and she began to dig her fingers into my forearm ! I tried to relax. When she let up, I exhaled and twisted my head to the right... snap, snap, snap, snap.... "Did you hear that ? ! !!" I think whatever she did helped some.
Went out to get some lunch and brought food back to the office. Just as soon as I got back to my little room my cell phone began to ring, which is unusual. I answered. It was Cameron Woods over in HR. He wanted to set up a phone interview !
Finished my day. Came home and as I was coming up the walk, Mercedes wanted to talk to me. So I had to talk to her for awhile.
Finished downloading the German movie "Killer Condom" and I quickly watched that lastnight. Stupid stupid movie, in German, with English subtitles, about condoms with teeth that are biting the penises off of gay men in New York City.
Reading Howard Hughes: The Untold Story. It is much more interesting than that Cervantes stuff. Added bonus: This stuff is true.
Today it was more of the same except there were 16 change orders from Edward Don this morning. Took the first two hours of my day just to get changes made. Then there were new orders, orders that needed troubleshooting, and of course, Betsy had stuff for me too. She flies back to Hong Kong on Sunday morning.
At 1:30 Cameron Woods called me and we had my telephone interview. It was not that bad, none of his questions were very hard. I am sure that I did well. Now I just have to wait for the real interviews to be set up with the managers who will be doing the hiring. He said that they were eager to fill this position quickly so I could expect to know something within two weeks. That is good to know since I am not guaranteed more than three more weeks here.
Stayed with Ana after work until about 6. Traffic is much lighter if I wait. Got home in about 20 minutes. I think if I get a permanent job at Disney, I should join the gym in the Team Disney building and spend my hour after work there. Then the drive home will be easier.
Too bad that all of the people who know how to run the country are busy driving taxi cabs and cutting hair. -- George Burns

The oil change only took about 20 minutes. I changed the air filter too even though the old one wasn't very dirty. Also changed the pcv valve.
With the oil changed, I showered, dressed, and went to AutoZone to drop off the oil for recycling, and I bought a new filter, some fuel injector cleaner, and some bug and tar remover.
Next stop: BestBuy, where I looked for the Mirra personal server. Mirra says on their website that BestBuy is one of the stores selling it, but I could not find it in the store. Maybe I will check CompUSA too. This might be a good use for part of my tax refund. I bought a 25-pack of mini CD's, and DVD copies of Seabiscuit and The Matrix Revolutions.
Then I wandered next door to the Barnes & Noble Bookseller (my favorite store). Here I found, what I think is going to be a titillating biography about Howard Hughes. I asked about Malcolm Gladstone's new book, Blink , but they did not have it in yet. Hits the shelves on January 11. He is the same man who wrote The Tipping Point.
After the bookstore I stopped at a car wash to clean off the truck and try to get some the insect carcasses off of the forward-facing surfaces of it. Liberally sprayed the bug and tar remover on and went through the automatic wash. Did very little good - almost as many bugs still on the truck
As I was trying to leave the car wash, there was a green van with New York plates on it in my damned way. The driver motions for me to stop and rolls his window down, "Do you speak Russian?" Dear God, what is this ? He needed directions. Poor guy couldn't even READ the English directions someone typed up for him, let alone speak it. When I finally figured out where they were trying to go, I put them back on the right path. They were grateful. Good deed for the day done.
One last stop at Staples to get some of those magazine boxes. I picked up two of them made out of steel. Enough space to hold my issues of Wired magazine.
I paid The Pirate Bay torrent hosting site a visit today and found confirmation that the text I read in Wired about the legal threats from Dreamworks was accurate. Take a look, it is funny ! They even chart the number of threats received and how many torrents were deleted as a result !!

8:07 a.m. Make a high protein breakfast while watching the Today show. Wonder if the stories you've heard about Matt Lauer are true. Decide they must be.
8:30 a.m. Italian or domestic? Decide to go with three-button Italian and the only shirt that is clean.
8:45 a.m. Climb into red Z4 and try not to look too much like Barbie driving one of her accessories as you pull out of your underground parking. Revos or Armanis? Go with Revos.
9:35 a.m. Stroll into office.
9:36 a.m. Close door to office and call best friend and laugh about the guy who spent the night at your condo. Point out something annoying about best friend's boyfriend but quickly add "It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, just as long as you love him."
10:15 a.m. Leave office, telling your secretary you are "meeting with a client." Pretend not to notice her insubordinate roll of her eyes (or the cloying "poem" she has tacked to her cubicle wall).
10:30 a.m. Hair appointment for lowlights and cut. Purchase of Aveda anti-humectant pomade.
11:30 a.m. Run into personal trainer at gym. Pester him about getting you Human Growth Hormone. Spend 30 minutes talking to friends on your cell phone while using Hammer Strength machines, preparing a mental-matrix of which circuit parties everyone is going to and which are now passe.
12:00pm Tan. Schedule back-waxing in time for Saturday party where you know you will end up shirtless.
12:30 p.m. Pay trainer for anabolic steroids and schedule a workout. Shower, taking ten minutes to knot your tie while you check-out your best friend's boyfriend undress with the calculation of someone used to wearing a t-back and having dollars stuffed in their crotch.

7:40 P.M. Stop looking at the photographic displays at Abercrombie & Fitch and go to a cool store to begin shopping.
8:30 p.m. Light dinner with catty homosexual friends at a restaurant you will be "over" by the time it gets its first review in the local paper.
10:30 p.m. Cocktails at a debauched gay bar, trying to avoid alcoholic queens who can't navigate a crowd with a lit cigarette in one hand and a Stoli in a cheap plastic cup in the other. Make audible remark about how "trashy" people who still think smoking is acceptable are.
12:00 a.m. "Nightcap at your place." Find out that people lie in bars, too.
In even the most far out spoofs like this and even in rumors that circulate, there is atleast a kernel of truth. Looks like I'd better get with the program before they revoke my membership card ! LOL !!

It is kind of ironic that I am using software called "BitTorrent" to download movies of a tidal torrent.

Ran across this story on Yahoo. Basically it tells you that to take control of your life - quit your job. It sounds just like me after I left Entergy ! He might be onto something.
I just bookmarked this link today too: Concrete TV. For those not familiar, Concrete TV is a half hour mix of mostly heavy music, scenes of campy ultraviolence, and attractive people wiggling around in their underwear. Very strange.
Well, today I need to change the oil in the truck - it is past due. Probably buy bottled water at the grocery store. Get ready, psychologically, to return to work. It was nice to have a three-day weekend !

Happy New Year !
Went to the Full Moon Saloon lastnight and really enjoyed myself drinking rum and coke. Joe makes them soooo strong and I got soooo drunk ! Incredibly, I am not hung over today. I had a lot of fun lastnight.
Tried to fire a couple of bottle rockets lastnight, but the soil was packed so tight that two of the three rockets never left the ground ! One took off with a WHOOOSH and cork-screwed out over the lake.
For New Years Day I had a traditional Polish sausage and sauerkraut. Tasty !
Laundry is done. Will iron shirts tomorrow.
I guess I have Monday off because nobody is going to be at work Monday. Hi-Tec could not be reach to confirm because they took Friday off to observe New Year's Day.
Friday was also Mom's 54th birthday. I called her from work to wish her a Happy Birthday and talk. They went to Outback restaurant for her birthday meal.
Andrea called me and told me that Lindsay Johnson, the new manager for Technology and Telecomm Team asked her if she would recommend me for the position Ronelda left over there. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the next few weeks. If they do decide to start interviewing me, I am told the interview process is rigorous. Interviews with Lindsay, Cameron Woods in HR, and likely with Carlos Aguilar from Burbank too.
I do not expect you to understand this, but I found the following paragraph in Wired magazine:
The Pirate Bay is a BitTorrent tracking site in Sweden with 150,000 users a day. In the fall, it posted a torrent for Shrek 2. Dreamworks sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the site remove it. One of the site's psuedonymous owners, Anakata, replied: "As you may or may not be aware, Sweden is not a state in the United States of America. Sweden is a country in northern Europe and US law does not apply here. ...It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are fucking morons." Shrek 2 stayed up.
Remember when the VCR was new and Hollywood was so worried about people making copies of movies and sharing them ? Didn't take them long to figure out how to create Blockbuster Video and make money off the VCR, did it ? Some folks do not learn from history, not even recent history.
