I went out lastnight in my doctor's costume. I had so much fun !! I picked up an adult costume a couple months ago. It consisted of green felt scrubs, cap, reflector, stethoscope, and face mask for mouth and nose. I added some rubber gloves and my shiny black shoes to it. I got a picture of it and when I get around to downloading from the camera I will post it.
You should see the way gay men respond to the sound of rubber gloves snapping ! LOL !! I would walk up behind some devil of a stud and start to grope him, "Now tell me where it hurts, son !" or "Don't be embarassed! This is for your health!" Unfortunately most of the guys at the Full Moon Saloon lastnight did not have insurance to cover my services ! LOL !!
Always love to go out on Halloween to see the costumes. They had contests at FMS and P House. Some of them were VERY creative and way out there. You never think of some of the ideas these guys come up with.
With the switch to Daylight Savings Time, we got an extra hour at the bars lastnight too !
Worked a little bit on my Flash yesterday between loads of laundry and dishes. You can see what I have done so far at http://vthigpen.tripod.com/flash_experiment.swf. The next thing I should work on is a photo album movie to show some if not all of my pictures. Then I will create some kinda animation for the "splash" screen and homepage. Slowly but surely, it is coming along.
More and more election controversy. I know it will be over soon.
I hate it when I lift a pillow off of the floor and find a crunchy dried earthworm or a toad that got in here and dessicated on my living room floor ! They really should plan better if they are going to come indoors.
Took a stack of envelopes to the mail box yesterday. Next week I will pay a couple more bills and add money to my savings account. The two paychecks after that will have to go toward rent, then the cycle can repeat. Another project that is slowly showing progress: paying off my Bank Of America accounts.
Well, it is afternoon now. I guess I should go to Seven-11 and get another fridge pack of Diet Coke and maybe find some lunch.

The past few days have been VERY BUSY AND HECTIC in the office. It is like suddenly Betsy's queue has gotten very busy. Plus, when she leaves, she forwards her phone to my phone, so I got ALOT more phone calls.
Trying to get a spreadsheet put together for her that lists all of the equipment we are buying as capital in FY 2005 on the y-axis, and all of the companies she invited to bid on the x-axis. I got the sheet formed today and I printed it out and taped it up. The dang thing is about 3 feet by 3 feet ! I used push pins to put it on the wall. I will pencil in all the quoted prices.
Finally got the dynamic scrolling external text function to work in Flash. Found a good tutorial on Kirupa's website. I will probably work through most of his tutorials. I should find some time this weekend to work on my pitiful Flash website some more this weekend. Get some scrolling frames for my text up atleast. Next project will be some fashion of photo album.
With this paycheck we are going to pay some bills down. Probably do the same with the next check, then it will be time to get rent together again. Maybe I will go to the Dollar Store and get my Christmas cards bought and work on address labels for them. You can get Christmas postage stamps after Halloween.
Mom and Bill are in southern Ohio. I guess Betty is getting very close to the end now. If she goes quickly she will not have suffered much.
Reading The Tipping Point - a book about how ideas, and diseases, and fashions, crime, and new products spread. How some people have behaviors that cause these things to spread through a population and how the idea or the disease or slogan has to be "sticky" to take an effect. It is academically interesting. I would NOT recommend it to anyone else.
Starting to gain weight again. Sitting at the desk all day long is not good for me. I need to be very careful of what I am eating. It would not hurt to start walking some significant distance either.
Clocks go one hour back on Sunday night. Do that right after you finish handing out candy to the costumed beggars.

Matt was unhappy that I went to the restaurant equipment show on Friday. He said that they were not training me to be a food service equipment buyer and that I was only hired to make SAP transactions. Hahahaa... damned good thing that I do much more than that or nothing would get done ! I guess he was going to talk to Peggy and Betsy about it because he thinks they put me up to it.
An invite came from Kim Dewitt (Davida really) for a Town Haul Meeting. I asked Matt if my attendance was appropriate and he said, "No". So I clicked the "Decline" button. A few minutes later Davida replied with "Vince, you are welcome to attend this meeting." Whoa ! That pissed me so much I had to leave and take a "mental health walk" around the outside of the building... and this is a BIG building ! I love the fuck fuck games they continuously play in here. My next move - there is an invite to a Thanksgiving Luncheon in my inbox, no response needed before Nov. 4. I will click on "Decline" for that one too and when Davida asks me why I will tell her that Matt said I was only hired to conduct SAP transactions and that my time would be better spent.
Updated my resume and e-mailed it to Rob at hitecjobs.com today. I figure after the end of the month my time will be winding down here.
Today was another very busy day... much of the usual stuff - vendor setups, change orders, new orders...
Got the scrolling, externally loaded, dynamic text to actually work lastnight. Found a tutorial on Kirupa's website. His tutorials seem to actually work, so I am going to go through them all and work several of them. Gee, getting the scrolling dynamic text to work only took me three weeks, so my new website should be ready to go by next spring !! LOL !

Well, alot has happened since I last wrote.
On Friday I went to worked until around noon, then I went to the Florida Restaurant Equipment Show at the convention center. That convention center is HUGE. They filled on of the halls up with all kinds of stuff for the foodservice industry. Lots and lots of free samples and food to eat too ! Betsy was like a little politician in there shaking hands... she knows alot of people and she has been buying from these folks for a long long time.
I guess Matt was there and she mentioned that I was coming and he said, "Oh no, Vince won't be here, maybe tomorrow, but he will work until 5 PM". So, Betsy didn't say anything else about it. We will see what happens tomorrow. My guess is that he went home after the show and was using it as an excuse to scam out.
After the show we went to Dan Marino's restaurant across the road from the convention center. Phyllis Robinson of Eaton Associates had invited us to dinner and the Perlick factory representative treated us. We had to wait at the bar for the rest of our party, so I drank a Bud Light and I got Betsy a "Chocolatini"... she liked it, she said it was tasty.
I had meatloaf, potatoes, broccoli, and a salad. I had a really good time, but by the time I finally got home, it was after nine, so I stayed in.
Yesterday I went to Sonny's and ate barbecue for lunch, then to the grocery store for some food for this week. Then I bought a tank of gas for the truck, mailed my bills out, stopped at the rental office to get Liz to type up my 2005 lease. Came home and vacuumed the carpet, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors, ran the dishwasher and did two loads of laundry - leaving three shirts to be pressed today.
Lastnight I went to The Full Moon Saloon... man, Bear Bust 2004 was going on and I had to park across the street. The place, hell even the back yard, was so packed you could not move. I did not stay long. Met up with my Internet friend, Roger. I have been chatting with Roger for about 5 years I guess, since I lived in Norfolk. He lived in Indy back then, but he just moved to Pensacola, so he came down here for the Bear event and shared a room at the Radisson with some buds.
I have the shirts pressed now, working on my Flash alittle bit, but I am still not having success getting a scrolling dynamic text box to work properly. I can read external text into a dynamic text box just fine, but I can't get it to scroll down... that is the tricky part. If I do not give up, we will figure it out, or something else that works like it.
Also cleaned the glass on the truck. I have been procratinating about it for over three weeks, so now I did it this morning.
October is almost over now... that sure flew by fast !

Went out to dinner with Marrissia and Kevin on Sunday evening. They are staying at the Orange Lake Resort on 192 up north of the entrance to the park. We went to the Olive Garden on 535. They had gift cards for Darden Restaurants because they spent over $10k on their credit card. I guess they have a 4-day pass to all of the parks so they are going to spend time in all of them. They have had some nice weather for it so far.
Got a little pissed with Davida Heeder, the executive secretary for Kimberly Dewitt, and department control freak. I got an e-mail notice about a department end-of-year celebration on Thursday. Since Matt is in DC with Kimberly, I asked Davida by e-mail first thing in the morning whether I should go. Did not hear anything from her. Betsy said I should go, Matt would not care. At lunch Marta said that I should go, so when I returned to my desk I clicked on the "Yes, count me in" button... two seconds later I get a nasty-gram from Davida...saying she assumed I spoke with Matt about my going. A little back and forth ensued. Finally at the end of the day she told me that she spoke with Kim and they decided that my attendance was not appropriate. "Thank-you. I will plan accordingly." All I wanted was an answer from her. But it does not stop there. She sent a memo to the other members of the FF&E Team telling them that although I am on the mailing list that I have to get permission to attend department events from Matt, Kimberly, or her. Hahahaha... everyone knows that if it is left to her I will be excluded from it all.
The queue is kinda quiet this morning and Betsy, Peggy, and Dawn are at some meeting downstairs.
I was kept so busy yesterday that the day just flew by. I think today is going to be by much slower.

I sure have written a lot of entries in this thing. Look at all the archived weeks of log entries over there to the right ------>>
The trucked rolled past 100,000 miles yesterday on the way to work. My next truck or car will be a Toyota too. This truck has been that good and reliable.
Thursday evening when I came home I found a note on the door telling me that it was time to sign a new lease. I have a few options:
1. Sign a 12 to 18 month lease for $625 / month.
2. Sign a 12 to 18 month lease for $655 / month and get all new Whirlpool appliances and faux wood blinds for my windows ! Woooo hooo ! Where's my pen ? Where do I sign ?
3. Sign a 7 to 9 month lease for $645 / month.
4. Go month-to-month for $774 / month.
If I decide not to renew, my 60-day notice is due on October 1. Gee, they can be two weeks late, but I only get one day to decide ?
If I sign a lease before October 30, I get $100 off of one month's rent.
Not really an easy decision. Who knows if I will keep my job or find work in the next year. But rent of over $700 a month is larcenous.
Marrissia and Kevin are in Florida tonite. They are at Cocoa Beach tonite. Coming to Kissimmee tomorrow and we are supposed to go out for dinner. They are going to spend the week in the theme parks. Their dog is with Becky and Bill and he seems kinda lonesome for them when he is not sleeping.
Today I washed whites. Had to iron 5 shirts. Ran the vacuum cleaner. Emptied the dishwasher.
Got a small slow start on my Flashed version of my website... basically I have a movie with bottons on it and you can click on the buttons to jump from scene to scene... the scenes will be analogous to pages on a website. But the cool thing is, as I develope the site, I can easily add animation, layed graphics and text, whatever. Plus you can precisely position things with out CSS. Flash is really pretty awesome for drawing and animating, but now the scripting language in it lets you almost develope applications with it. Have to decide how my pictures will be shown. I have decided that the long texts will reside in external (easily updated) text files that Flash will read from. I have not decided whether I will keep this blog going here or not. If I host my own blog, I will have to FTP the text file to the server all the time and I am not sure I want to do all of that.
I finished Shrub yesterday. Now I am reading Bushwacked. That Molly Ivins is a pistol ! LOL !!
The presidential debates are over now. Dick and Lynn Cheney are in a snit because John Kerry and John Edwards mentioned that the Cheney's daughter is a dyke. Like the whole fucking world didn't know about it already. And besides, they were both saying nice things about the family.
If we let Bush have 4 more years, this country is going to get what it deserves. You thought the Crash of '29 was bad.... you just wait for this one !

Well, it has been a very busy week. I am keeping Dawn Luttrell's queue caught up, and Betsy came back on Monday - she's kept me pretty busy too !
Still have not gotten the plotter to make useful work yet, but it is just a matter of me buckling down to it and making it work... problem is probably something simple like the cable not being plugged in tight.
Determined that I am going to redesign my website as a Flash production. I am going to call it Version 4.0. As I make incremental improvements to it I will ratchet up the number to Version 4.1, 4.2, etc. This will be the fourth release of my personal vanity site.
I still need brake pads for the truck. I have to decide how I am going to finance them. Should I install them myself or have someone do it? I think it is safer to have someone else do the work.
Took Ana to Subway today for lunch. Tonite I am going to have a salad. I made the salad lastnight since the bagged salad was approaching 5 days old. I will get most of it eaten before it goes bad.
Matt Thursam will be out most of next week. He is going to DC with Kim and Phyllis for some kinda minority business meeting.
Marrissia and Kevin are coming to Kissimmee on Sunday. Supposed to go to Olive Garden or Red Lobster for dinner on Sunday evening. I hope I hear from them - my cellphone hasn't been ringing reliably at home for some reason. Danged Verizon service !
I can listen to music in my office now. I "appropriated" a small clock radio/CD player that was in the lounge (I think it is a sample from a vendor). Listen to country music quietly... I am going to bring a few CD's to play in it too.
Getting through SHRUB. Reading a little each night. Only 4 more chapters to go.

Took the truck to Sears this morning and spent $319.00 on new tires. The salesman kept trying to steer me to the top-of-the-line $50-something apiece Goodyears, but I took midde-of-the-road $37 Generals. They are supposed to last 60k miles. They did a front-end alignment on the truck too.
I wanted to get the brakes done, but they did not have the parts in stock. I know that Just Brakes will charge atleast $100 for it. I could get the parts and do it myself, but I do not have very many tools with me here and with my luck I would get stuck with no way to finish the job or go to the store for a tool.
So the brakes and wheel bearings still need to be done, and a new battery will be needed before long. Would like to have the truck detailed too.
Transferred $500.00 to savings. Want to build up my savings account incase I do not keep my job at Disney.
Spoke to Mercedes, my neighbor, on the way in. She signed a new lease, but her rent went up $40 a month ! Damn. If they do that to me, I might think about finding another place to live.
I printed out my calendars. I need to get the hanging hole drilled out on them, and I am going to get a roll of that plastic magnet material and glue it to the back of them. Then they can either hang the calendar or stick it on the front of the fridge.
Did a load of whites, washed the sheets from my bed, and washed the ironing board cover. Pressed 4 shirts.
Stayed in lastnight. Was just tired. I think I will go out tonite.
Am reading Molly Ivins' book Shrub: The Mostly Happy Political Life of George W Bush. I love reading her newspaper columns.

Well, I printed out a draft of my 2005 calendar on regular paper and brought it in to work. Ana and Peggy think it looks really nice. Now it will look professional when I print it on heavier brighter paper. Hardest part to find is the 8.5x11 cardboard back that I staple it to !
Atleast this calendar project helped me become familiar with the changed interface on Flash MX. I will begin to work on my simple Flash version of my website. This is going to be version 4.0
Yesterday was a very busy day for me. Doing Betsy's queue, making change orders for Ali Siskind, and in the afternoon I helped Peggy get Ana's queue caught up because Ana and Dawn went to Miami for some kinda hotel furnishings convention.
Going to try to get new brakes and tires on the truck this weekend. Do it while I have the money to do it. Put leftover money into savings account. Save next two checks for November rent and storage.
Dennis the maintenance man came and cleaned up my carpet again Monday. When I got home they had left a big blower running in my apartment to dry the rug out. It is very dry and crunchy now. I hope they have finally gotten the leakage fixed.

Happy 36th Birthday !!
I am starting to feel my age too... back hurts if I lay down too long, and it is hard to straighten right up when I get up from sitting for a long time -- makes me walk hunched over for a minute when I get up ! LOL !
But overall, I guess I look and am doing pretty good for a guy my age.
Last night I was going to Orlando and I stopped at the Shell station to get gasoline. I was filling up when a green BMW pulls up and this big hunky man I vaguely recognized asked me for directions to the Silver Spurs Rodeo. I told them it was about 2 or 3 more miles down 192 and on their left. The guy in the passenger seat goes, "Do you want to go to the rodeo?" I just laughed at them. Then as I was rocketting up the turnpike to I-4 I remembered... the guy driving was named Mark, he was from upstate New York - Rochester... and he snubbed me at the bar a few weeks ago.
Went to Full Moon. Told bartender Joe that it was my birthday, he told me to come back to his bar at midnight and he would have a special drink for me. Walked next door to PH briefly... even my brief visit was too much. Some big squishy queen bitching to the bartender that her mixed drink tasted like diet ! (And to look at her, she could stand to drink diet!).
Back at Full Moon I was talking to a guy I saw at PH. When the two guys I saw down in Kissimmee came in... I tossed my head back and laughed. I asked them if they ever found the rodeo. "Omigod! It's him! The man pumping gas with the sexy legs!!" I guess I made an impression because they had told their friends about me. Then I cracked Mark's face... telling him where he is from and how he just walked away from me in mid-conversation a few weeks ago... he did not remember it, and he insisted that he was a good guy. Whatever.
Came home very late. Got up very late. Took me awhile to get started. I went to Tony Roma's for ribs. I got a whole rack, fries, slaw and a side salad. Those ribs were falling right off the bones. Yum ! Bill came to $26.00 ! So, Happy Birthday to me !! LOL !
Then I went up the 417 to Winter Park so that I could deposit the Merrill Lynch check (Rinker 401k) into my checking account at Navy Federal. On the way home I went to the Barnes & Noble bookstore on 50 in Orlando. It was hot as hell in that store... AC was out from hurricane damage. I got a book about upholstering furniture, a book by Molly Ivins (I love her columns), a picture frame, and an Anastacia CD. I wanted to get a book on Perl programming or Flash MX Actionscripting, but since I did not find one I felt like I absolutely had to have, I did not get one.
An article in the Sentinel says that Kerry may have won in this debate because he stood up straight, kept his answers short and straight forward. When the camera cut to Bush when Kerry was talking, you could see Bush pursing his lips, looking disgusted, looking imperious, leaning over the podium and squinting his eyes. These are the kinds of things people will remember, just like Al Gore yawning in the debates of the last election.
They have the 2005 calendars out at the stores already too. I guess I should make a calendar for myself since I cannot look forward to Rinker giving me one this year ! LOL ! I think I can use Flash to make a nice calendar.
I want to redesign my website in 100% Flash too. If I do this, I will probably find a decent host for it, which means I might end up paying for web hosting service. We will cross that bridge when we get to it.
Electric bill finally came. This is the bill for August, and September. $168 for those two months. Damn. You would figure will all of the storm-related blackouts that I would not have used very much electric.
Poor truck needs to be washed badly too. I am planning on getting the tired replaced, new front brakes, front wheel bearings repacked, and then vacuum it out and wash and wax it. That little truck has been very dependable for me.
Going to play around with Flash some before I get a shower and go to FMS tonite. Groceries in the morning, and then to the gym in the afternoon.

Soooo busy today ! It is the end of FY 2004 and everyone is either trying to make sure their order gets invoiced today or is goods receipted today. Lots of special requests too. Staying too busy !
Yesterday I had some spare time. I know you will not understand this or think it is geeked out, but I went to this HTML tutorial site and worked some of the lessons. For the first time I managed to get forms to work on a webpage. I made the form and when you clicked the Submit button, it mailed the form info to my e-mail account. Unfortunately, when I got home and tried it, it would not work... so there is something different about my home computer that is not letting me work a form.
Wet spot is coming up in my carpet again. I don't know what the apartment is going to do to finally fix this. This is getting very old now.
Matt and Davida are both on vacation today, so I had to find some random manager to get my time card signed off. My moustache is coming in really nice now.
Lots of talk in the office about the presidential debate lastnight. I did not watch it, but I did buy a newspaper this morning so that I can know what was said. Even if I had a TV I would not waste my time watching that stuff.
Still reading How To Be Like Walt. I have gotten past the point where he died. Disneyland cost him $17 million to build in 1955 and covers 160 acres. Walt Disney World cost untold millions and covers 31000 acres - 40 square miles ! That's twice as big as Manhatten ! The Magic Kingdom has 14 million visitors a year - more than any other park in the US.
Tomorrow is my 36th birthday. Damn I am getting so old !
