Overslept this morning and because I did not sleep well lastnight, I decided to skip the gym this morning. I will hit it hard in the morning.
The chart here shows a graph of consumer confidence. Notice how it is plummetting lately? Unemployment, length of unemployment, rising fuel costs, credit card and loan payments late, and falling housing sales all contribute to the reduced consumer confidence. With reduced confidence, you can expect reduced spending.
It was mostly a quiet day at the office today. Only two or three orders all day. Right around lunchtime the phones got busy, but it was mostly quiet. I heated up my Lean Cuisine meal, ate in the Test Kitchen, and read parts of the Orlando Sentinel, then took my walk.
Because it was so quiet I had time to read the news on the Internet and browse some. Among the things I read today:
- The first gay slasher movie -- Hellbent. Out just intime for Halloween!
- Dubya's Master Nickname List. Does he nickname because he can't remember their real names?
- A 19-year paraplegic regains some sensation after stem cell treatment!
- Bees carefully "cook" their enemies to death! Helps keep the hive warm too.
Did not get out of the office until 6:40 pm because I stayed behind and talked with Craig for awhile. Was zipping down the Turnpike until I was just past the OBT exit, then traffic stopped and backed up. There was a wreck 10 miles down the road at the Osceola Parkway that had traffic stopped in both directions !
Eventually I turned around, went north to the OBT exit and came home down the Trail. It was after 8 pm when I finally got home. I have steaks in the fridge that have been marinating for 4 days now. I have to get them fried soon!
"The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government." -- Thomas Jefferson, 1809
