Clark, Wyoming

Okay, those three nights seemed to go by quickly.

The shutdown did not end on time (do they ever?), but it ended on Thursday evening.  As soon as it was over Cindy and me had to major clean Hallway 105, Airlocks 106 and 107, Room 001, Room 002, and Room 006.

The plan was for us to start a batch of EME, but that had to be cancelled because somehow, RMS (Raw Materials Storage) lost track of over 1,000,000 grams of Sodium Hydroxide 50% solution.  So, the answer to this problem, as decided by management, was to have us make NaOH the old fashioned way - home made!

We began this work late on Thursday evening and got half of one batch done by the morning.  Five batches are needed to make the aqueous layer needed to fill Reactor EU101 and start EME.

On Saturday night, Arnie and Cindy continued to work in Room 006 making NaOH.  I began a batch of Morphine Base in Room 005.  Chris Schuler went out-of-town on a family emergency so James Flowers from Crew D came in to help.  I worked with James on the 350 process all night.

On Monday we went to Powell to eat breakfast, do our laundry, close the construction loan account, sell eggs to Mary, and take Bob to the hospital for additional MRI scans.  The last thing we did was fill the water tank and bring 160 gallons home with us.  It was almost 4 PM when we got back home.

Today we packed our suitcase for our trip to Las Vegas.  I moved some pallets around outside because we are going to put the chicken feed on pallets near the coop, and we are going to take the water tank off of the truck and strap it down to a pallet in the driveway.

Tomorrow we are taking Buddy to Blessing Animal Hospital where he will be kenneled until we return on Sunday or Monday.

Wednesday we fly out of Cody to Salt Lake City and then down to Las Vegas.  We will see Elton John on Friday night and hopefully another show while relaxing and taking a mini-vacation.

Okay, now we are past all of the cute mid-March dates... Friday The Thirteenth, Pi Day, Ides of March, John 3:16 Day, and St Patrick's Day.

This morning we drove to Cody and had breakfast at Granny's Restaurant.  Bob had an appointment with Dr. Gee to review his MRI from last week.  We picked up a bag of chicken feed at Tractor Supply Co and Bob got a haircut.

Dr. Gee said that Bob is going to need another treatment with the gamma knife because a couple of his lesions have grown significantly since his last MRI five years ago.  We don't know when this will be yet (Dr. Gee wants to consult with a specialist first), but it will probably happen down in Denver.

I have to work Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night.  Then, I am off until the night of April 1.

Pi Day

It never works out like I think it will....

I drove to work yesterday believing that I would be making Cocaine HCl in Room 001.  When I get there I learn that I am going to be making EME in Room 006 because the Cocaine batches were cancelled due to insufficient raw materials.

Don't bother worrying about something you can't change - it probably isn't even going to work out the way you fear.

Today was Pi Day - 3.1415926... cute.  I slept right through the Pi moment this morning.

Now onward!  The first day of Spring is next week!

Friday The 13th

Welp, these three days (or is it nights?) off went by pretty fast.

Tuesday didn't really feel like a day off because I slept for about half of it.

On Wednesday night we had to drive to Cody because I had to go to the All-API Meeting at the plant.

Yesterday we drove to Powell so that Bob could get his MRI done.  We sold a dozen eggs to Mary Vail while we were there.

On the way home we stopped in to see Kristen Adkins.  We wanted to know if she would watch our chickens while we are in Vegas.  She said she would.  She invited us in to see their unfinished house and we stayed and talked for about five hours!

I have to work tonight.  Chris and Arnie are going to make EME in Room 006 while Cindy and me make Cocaine HCl in Room 001.

I need to shave and cut my hair, and then lay down and nap so that I am ready to be up all night.

Clark, Wyoming

I can't really tell if March has come in like a lamb or like a lion.  We had some nasty snow and heavy winds last week, but now it is very mild and all of the snow is melting away.  The high today was 55°F.

We went to Billings today to do our grocery shopping.  We got out of there spending only $400.

I was tired all day long.  As soon as I got up I had to dress and take the dog for his walk.  Then I let the chickens out and started the truck up.  We put the trash in the bed and headed out.  Stopped at Gordy's to drop the trash in the dumpster and then up to  Billings.

The reason I was so tired was because I should have been sleeping - on night shift, I should be sleeping during the day.

Today was a beautiful day.  The skies were cloudless and it was sunny.  The temps were very mild.  All around the house the ground is very muddy with all of the snow and ice melting.

When we got home I checked on the hen house and found 8 eggs.  Every hen laid an egg today!

After the groceries were put away, Bob made a nice dinner of oven-roasted potatoes and a smoked beef brisket.  Yum!

Tomorrow I will walk the dog first and then feed/water the hens.  After breakfast I will lay down again and try to sleep a little because I will have to be up all night working.
